Brazil

Brazil are the most successful football-playing nation on the planet, and have become a symbol of the World Cup tournament. The country lives and breathes football and have won 5 titles, the best record of any country. There have been 2 golden periods in their history, winning 3 trophies out of 4 between 1958 and 1970, then making 3 finals in a row between 1994 and 2002, winning 2 of them. Brazil are the only side to play in every FIFA world cup and their greatest success was winning all 6 matches in the 1970 world cup, including a 4-1 victory in the final against Italy, with a legendary team including the country's greatest icon, Pele.
Oddly, given their pedigree, they are also the only one of the 7 winners of the world cup not to win the trophy on soil; Uruguay stunned them in 1950 in front of 200'000 people at the Maracana, winning the final pool decider 2-1. They will have a chance to put this right when they host the 2014 World Cup.
